Toyota Sustainability

 A common argument across the industry is ‘you have to be economically sustainable to become environmentally and socially sustainable’. As a ‘manager’ of an organisation, do you support this statement? Provide arguments in relation to your perspective with the support of theory/ies discussed in the class and practical examples from the organisations of your choice. (please use the theory, the theory start in page 16 “4 principles in creating value”) Before you start the essay, please go through the week1 powerpoint and Toyota Sustainability Report. Report structure: 1. Introduction: A very brief about the main company selected and your perception (if you support or not) regarding the topic. Specify if you’re going to focus on any specific sustainable strategy (such as GHG emission or water usage or social issues) or on the overall sustainable strategies of the company. Also, specify if you want to focus on any particular product/service of the company or want to focus on the overall company, such as Honda or any other international car company. 2. Data Analysis: • Explore the performances of your selected company (look for both qualitative and quantitative information/data from annual and sustainability reports) • Go beyond the company website/reports and explore third party resources • You can compare your company’s performances with any other company’s performances from the same industry to judge your position in the industry  3. Decision Analysis: Use theories and data to support your decision and recommendations. It is recommended that you consult other recent news, high quality articles and business case studies to support your arguments. Your assignment will be judged on the strength of your arguments and their application in the real world. Specifically, you are expected to consult and collect information from several secondary sources such as: ● company reports (annual and sustainability reports) ● reports prepared by third parties such as NGOs, governments or business associations ● other academic articles
