cover letter

July 28, 2024/0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Admin

cover letter Description The Final ePortfolio will consist of two parts, listed in the order that items will be read by the committee. 1. Cover Letter This written document will help orient your readers to your outlook on your learning, and direct them to particular places where you feel you have provided evidence of meeting learning objectives. This document should be divided into three distinct sections—three sections, not necessarily three paragraphs. Use as many paragraphs as you need to cover the following: In the first section, explore and analyze what you have learned about rhetoric and academic writing in this class. Next, building on the knowledge of rhetoric and academic writing you displayed in the first section, use the second section to explain how you have applied this knowledge to your work across the quarter. Use this portion to highlight particular choices, changes, and revisions—and most importantly, to explain why you made these decisions to conform to the principles described in the first section of this document. Your readers expect this to be the longest section of the letter. In the final section, explain how you plan to apply this knowledge of rhetoric and academic writing beyond this class. Describe and analyze how you see these lessons might be applied or modified in future academic and/or professional contexts. The committee expects the cover letter to be around 1,000 words long. They ask that you address the letter to the “Portfolio Reading Committee” and that you format this document as a business letter [See Footnote 1]. 2. Final Drafts of the Three Essay Projects The committee views the Building Blocks, First Essay, and Final Essay Projects as the most important assignments of the class because these projects give you the opportunity to demonstrate your ability to sustain and develop complex ideas over the course of several pages. In turn, your grade for the course will largely be determined by the final drafts of these writing projects. You are strongly expected to reference and comment upon these projects in your cover letter.
