Poetry Explication on “What’s That Smell in the Kitchen” by Marge Piercy

 Your paper should be between two to four pages long.  It must be typed in twelve-point Times New Roman font and formatted according to Modern Language Association (MLA) guidelines. Instructions for formatting your paper in Microsoft Word are available in myTCC under the MLA link in the course menu.  Integrate short quotations (three lines or fewer of poetry) smoothly into your paper. Use a slash / to show a line break within a quote and a double slash // to show a stanza break within a quote. Be sure to enclose quotations in quotation marks and provide a parenthetical citation containing the line numbers for any quote or paraphrase from the poem. Ex: The speaker wonders, “What brought the kindred spider to that height, / Then steered the white moth thither in the night?” (11-12).
