For each of the two slave narratives assigned from The Classic Slave Narratives – Frederick Douglass’s “Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass” (301-403), and Harriet Jacob’s “Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl” (407-617) – identify and illustrate two significant themes that the author seeks to the reader to take away from the memoir.
