The Glorious Revolution unfolds in a manner that is quite different from some of the other violent transfers of power in Europe. Why were the people of England so willing to accept the ouster of their current King with replacement by William and Mary? Given the changing nature of religious identification and the rise of parliamentary power, was this overthrow a foregone conclusion? Was there any possible course of action that James II could have taken to forestall his removal?
