Interpersonal Communication – Theory
Interpersonal Communication – Theory
Overview: We have learned some theories so far this semester. In this paper, you will write about a theory that resonates with your interest the most in interpersonal communication. You will choose a theory you connect most with, provide a brief review of the chosen theory, and apply the chosen theory to your own phenomenon/concept (i.e., personal experience, TV show episode, stories that you know). Requirements 1. This paper should be at least 4 full pages in length (cover page not included), 1 point margin, double-space, Times New Roman font, 12 points font size 2. A title page is required with the paper title and your name on it. Does not count as one of the 4 required pages. 3. In-text citation and bibliography is required. 4. At least 6 references. 5. Structure: all papers must have an introductory and concluding paragraph. For example, if you choose to write about your best friend, you may want to start your paper (introduction) by telling the readers a little bit about the relationship, and what about the relationship you will be writing about (thesis statement). Papers should be written in essay-format (no bullet points). It would be better if you can outline your paper before you write to help you organize. 6. Language: Since you are writing your experience, we expect that you may say, “I” or “we”. That is fine. Please do not use slang or curse words—be a competent communicator. 7. Originality: All papers must be composed of your ideas and no one else’s. Papers will be check through SafeAssign, which compares your writing against items on the web and in the bank of all assignments ever submitted. That means you cannot re-use material from previous papers you have written. Pick One Topic/Theory: 1. Uncertainty reduction theory 2. Social penetration theory 3. Fundamental attribution error 4. Attribution theory 5. Attraction theory 6. Predicted outcome value theory 7. Social exchange theory 8. Need to belong theory This is an interpersonal communications paper.
