Week 8 Debate 3 -Write up Prevention and Treatment –Reflect on the in-class discussion or debate you had on the benefits, challenges, ethics, pros, cons, concerns, etc. around the ongoing debate about prevention vs. treatment. —In 2 paragraphs (4 to 5 sentences each, reflecting your individual critical analysis), discuss comments or questions that came up in your in-class discussion. For example: challenges you learned about and the implications of one emphasis over the other (prevention vs. treatment); considerations that have or have not been addressed in the readings, lectures, movies, or discussions in class this term; and/or what questions you have about the issues and why? Guidelines —Submissions should exhibit careful thought, logical reasoning and references to readings or other class materials that contribute to your discussion —Aim for two well-developed paragraphs (approximately 4-6 sentences) —Use correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar—remember to proofread —Copying text without proper documentation from any source, including the textbook or PowerPoint, is plagiarism—use quotations around quoted text and cite your source. Effective communication is critical. The quality and quantity of the information you provide can either draw a person in or drive them away. Here are 7 things to consider when approaching writing: –Be Concise – Only say what you need to say and no more. –Write clearly – Make sure what you write makes sense. –Be Thorough- Be complete and provide your reader with the information they require. –Be accurate – No grammatical and/or factual errors. –Be Coherent – Make sure there is a logical flow from point to point. –Be consistent – Spelling, punctuation, headings, bullet points, fonts. –Check your writing – Read it out loud to yourself or a friend.
